Our love story with Kay Saarinen started in 2016. We had been searching for the perfect range to represent us for many months. It was crucial to us that we retailed products that are good for you and good for the Earth.
Eventually Kay produced, under her own Saarinen Organics label, a 100% vegan line that ticked all of the boxes: organic, cruelty-free, low-tox and locally-made. Grown (!!) and manufactured in Bega, NSW. You can read all of the ingredients on the container, nothing is hidden. And to top it off, the products are sooo affordable, with the Face and Hands Moisturiser a paltry $15 for the 100ml dispenser on the left, while the day cream starts at $25 for the 25ml jar. And the latest 2018 batches have prettier, more modern labels we haven't photographed yet :)
We also stock toner, heat rub (we use it on your bodies so often, we get a quantity discount!) and night cream. For the full range, check Kay's website.
The driving force behind the AvoGlow product line is Dr Moezzi, a versatile chemical engineer with a passion for things organic."Sour cherry has been cultivated and consumed for thousands of years in the Middle East, Central Asia and Eastern Europe", says Amir Moezzi. "Rich in beneficial ingredients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C and anti-oxidants, the oil extracted by cold-pressing the kernels contains significant amounts of Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids as well as Alpha-ESA."
Smell his Sour Cherry Kernel oil and you'll feel as if you've bitten into a cherry. Smell the Pomegranate Seed oil (both 100% organic) and it's a less pleasant experience, but this oil has such amazing characteristics that you easily overlook the indifferent smell (or, even better, mix it with a drop of the Sour Cherry oil). It contains a polyunsaturated Omega-5 fatty acid, punicic acid, which helps to reduce signs of aging and wrinkles, and may have other beneficial effects which are still being studied - see this article and don't be put off by the chemijargon!. Like the Sour Cherry Kernel oil, it's to be used for face, body, nails and, if you like, hair as well.
And if you come in for a body scrub, you'll find we're now using AvoGlow's wonderful Coffee Scrub - so good and velvety that you could drink it with your coffee (please don't even though it's vegan). Try it for yourself, it's only $21 for the 250ml bottle - while the oils will set you back $20 each.
